Token Times Crypto Data API

The same source-stamped crypto data that powers tokentimes.in — prices, market data, the Indian rupee P2P rate, conversions, and "why it's moving" — as a fast JSON API. Free tier, no sign-up required.

The Token Times Crypto Data API is a fast, free JSON API for live cryptocurrency prices, market data, currency conversion, the Indian rupee P2P rate, reader sentiment and original "why it's moving" explanations. The free tier allows 60 requests per minute with no API key; higher tiers are available. All data is source-stamped and returned with an updated timestamp.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Token Times crypto API free?

Yes. The free tier gives you 60 requests per minute with no API key and no sign-up. Higher-volume Developer (600/min) and Business (3,000/min) tiers are available with a key.

Do I need an API key?

Not for the free tier — just call the endpoint. A key is only needed to unlock higher rate limits. Keys are sent as the x-api-key header.

Where does the data come from, and how fresh is it?

Prices and market data come from public market APIs (CoinGecko and Binance), on-chain data from DeFiLlama and mempool.space, and the rupee rate from live P2P market data. It refreshes roughly every 15 minutes and every response carries an updated timestamp, so it is source-stamped and auditable.

What does this API offer that CoinGecko or CoinMarketCap don’t?

Three things in particular: the Indian rupee P2P rate (and other Indian fiats) that most global APIs ignore, original "why it’s moving" explanations for the biggest movers, and crowd reader sentiment — all alongside standard price and market data.

Can I use the data commercially? Any attribution?

You may use it for information purposes; please attribute "Data by tokentimes.in" when you display it. The data is provided "as is" and is not financial advice. For commercial volume, use a Developer or Business key.

What are the rate limits and how do I check them?

Every response includes X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining and X-RateLimit-Reset headers. Limits are per key, or per IP on the free tier.
